However, there are a few things to keep in mind when preparing your goods to be loaded into our storage containers.
Below, we’ve listed the most important things to remember when moving your items into our storage sheds. By following these tips and tricks, you’ll minimise the amount of storage space required and ensure that you avoid damaging your goods.
Whitegoods
Before putting any white goods—such as freezers and refrigerators—into our storage containers, make sure they are dry and clean.
To keep mould from growing within, it is best to leave their doors slightly open.
To keep your white goods fresh, it’s a good idea to put a deodoriser inside.
You should avoid the urge to store things inside your white goods because they frequently cause scratches to the inside walls.
Glass & Breakables
Before being put in sturdy boxes with the label “Fragile,” each delicate item should be individually wrapped in packing paper.
When wrapping delicate objects, avoid using newspaper because the ink frequently leaves stains.
For additional protection, stuff the top and bottom of the boxes full of extra packing materials.
To prevent breakage, place bowls, plates, and other cutlery on their sides.
Don’t put bulky objects on top of your delicate boxes. To keep them from moving or breaking, mirrors and framed artwork should be securely wrapped in cardboard or special mirror containers.
Electronics
TVs, laptops, and other electronics should be returned to their original packaging if you still own them. We have specialist storage cases for a variety of electronics if you don’t have these. To prevent damage, make sure that nothing heavy is kept on top of fragile equipment.
Metal items
Before storing any metal objects, like tools, it is a good idea to give them a quick wipe down with a few drops of oil. This will stop rust from developing.
Keep these things apart from anything that could get stained by the oil, such as hardwood furniture.
To help avoid tarnishing, precious metals like silver should be wrapped in non-acid tissue paper when being stored.
Things not to store...
Items that are dangerous, unlawful, stolen, combustible, explosive, detrimental to the environment, perishable, or endanger someone’s property cannot be kept in our storage containers. This includes things like paint thinner, chlorine, full petrol bottles and petrol cans.
