Our Team at SmartWay Storage has had plenty of experience in dealing with the problems of difficult access. We know how to make the process of storing goods easier and know how to best approach difficult access jobs.
To deal with lack of parking, cones may need to be placed around the truck or a side street found for parking. Most often the body corporates will not allow parking in the driveway of the front of the building and allow access only via the basement. We have a ute that will navigate the basement and bring the items to the truck. Lifts will need to be booked out to make the bringing of goods down to the basement less time consuming. The fact that there is no double handling of your goods from the truck into traditional storage safes time and money and possible damage to your goods.

How Our Main Beach SmartWay Storage Service Works
Firstly, call to speak with one of our team members. They will offer you advice on the number of modules required for your job. If unsure, one of our team can come to do an in-home quote.
Secondly, book a date and time with your body corporate to have full access to the lift for removal purposes.
Thirdly, coordinate the time with SmartWay Storage and book removal time for our team to come to collect your goods. Decide if you want a self move into storage or our guys to do the lifting and loading for you.
If you choose to self load, your goods must be already in the basement ready to be self loaded into the modules at the specified time.
Fourthly, sign the storage paperwork on site once all the loading has been completed, receive your padlock keys and the job is done! No need to go the SmartWay facility. Your goods are locked in the modules and will be fork lifted into place in the facility.
Access is available during business hours. Please call at least 24 hours before access is required so that your module can be bought to the access point on ground level.
Container storage is also a popular choice especially if you have large pieces of furniture. This is more a traditional form of storage and your goods will be loaded on site and then unloaded into the container. Access for the container is 24/7 via your unique pin code.
How to prepare your lounge for storage
According to Nick Scali –
Clean Thoroughly: Vacuum fabric lounges or clean leather with an authorised product.
Cover with a light coloured fabric, do not enclose in plastic.
Avoid Weight and Stress: Store the lounge upright in its natural position. Never stack heavy items, boxes, or other furniture on top of the lounge, as this will permanently compress the foam and warp the frame.
Control the Environment: Store in a dry, cool, and climate-controlled space. Extreme temperatures and humidity can cause wood frames to warp and leather to crack or mould.
The advantage of the timber modules is that they breathe, thereby decreasing the chance of mould. Our team will place a blanket on the floor of the module to have a barrier between the timber floor and the lounge as well as placing a blanket over the light colored fabric covering your lounge. The reason for a light colored fabric is so that the dye from the fabric does not transfer to your lounge.
Similarly, the SmartWay Insulated containers do not overheat in summer and remain at a moderate temperature. Dehumidifiers are available for purchase to lower humidity.

Do I need to inform the building manager of my move?
Yes. The lift will have to be booked out and any other requirements noted eg only load via the basement
How should I prepare the lounge for storage?
Clean the lounge and wrap it in a light fabric.
Can I self load into the modules?
Yes. Have your goods in the pick up space prior to the arrival of the SmartWay modular truck so that you can load immediately on arrival of the truck.
What is the requirement for a self load option?
A self load option requires at least two persons to self load goods into the modules. You must engage family members or friends to help you lift and load into the modules. Our driver will direct you but he is not there to do the lifting.
Is my furniture safe from humidity?
Our modules are made from breathable, high-grade timber. This allows for natural airflow, which is far better than steel shipping containers and storage sheds for preventing mold and protecting furniture in Gold Coast climate
