.
How do I make a payment?
Storage payments are typically set up to be charged automatically from your nominated credit/debit card. You can also opt to pay via funds transfer, BPAY or cash at our office.
Is a deposit required?
Self storage containers – We require a $150 refundable deposit if you are hiring a self storage container, which is returned at the end of your storage period provided your storage space has been fully emptied and left clean and tidy.
Mobile storage modules – to book the space or a pick up timeframe, we require a $100 deposit per module booked. This amount is then credited towards your first month’s storage bill.
I’m new to storage, do you have any tips?
Yes, you can find these on our tips and tricks page. Alternatively please reach out to one of our friendly team members with any questions and we will be more than happy to point you in the right direction.
How do I choose between the mobile storage vs self storage containers options offered by SmartWay?
It will come down to the items you need to store & how frequently you will need to access them. Typically the self storage containers are better for commercial or bulky items, you can access these 24/7 and park right next to them. You will need to move yourself in and out of storage with this option.
Mobile storage is typically more suited to residential clients storing household goods, as we can bring the units to your door for loading to halve the amount of work required moving in and out of storage. They are breathable timber which is fantastic for preserving your items long term, and you can access the modules free of charge, we just need 2 business days notice in order to retrieve your module/s and put them into our access area for easy, drive up access (out of the weather too).
Please get in touch with our team and we can tailor the right solution to your needs.
Are my goods safe?
Self storage containers – Our shipping containers are located inside a gated premises which has pin code access, lighting and security cameras. Container locks are recommended which you can purchase off us or you can provide your own.
We consider our mobile storage modules extremely safe as they are located inside a locked warehouse with a monitored alarm and CCTV. The units are also stacked and virtually impossible to get to without one of our team members forklifting the unit down.
What size are the storage spaces?
We have 3 sizes of self storage containers – 10ft (16m3 – 2.4m x 3m x 2.4m), 20ft (33m3 – 2.4m x 6m x 2.4m) and 20ft high cube (38m3 – 2.4m x 6m x 2.7m)
We have multiple sizes in the mobile storage modules, a 1.2m3 locker, 3m3, 6m3, 8m3 and 10m3 modules. The 10m3 module is the most common size used, and many customers will need multiple 10m3 modules if they are storing a 2, 3, 4 + bedroom home worth.
What is the best way to estimate what size I need?
Using the storage calculator on our website is a great way to estimate how many cubic metres you need to store, and then working out which size you need from there.
As a rule of thumb a 20ft container (33m3) will fit about a 3 bedroom home worth of items.
For the 10m3 modules, a rough estimate would be 1 for a basic 1 bedroom apartment, 2 for a 2 bedroom home, 3 for a 3 bedroom home etc.
Our team does this day in and day out so please get in touch for assistance with this. Another advantage of the mobile storage option is that you will only need to pay for the space used (e.g if we bring 3 modules and you only use 2, that is all you pay for). Whereas with a fixed space (e.g. a 20ft container or 6×3 traditional storage space), you are still paying for the whole space even if you only half fill it.
Are there weight limits on what I can store?
There is no weight limit on the self storage containers.
Mobile storage modules can hold about 1.2 tonne, which is plenty for a mix of household items. If you were storing a large quantity of heavy boxes (e.g. books), you may need to split these out over multiple modules to avoid going over the weight limit.

Is there a minimum storage term?
There is a minimum charge of one month. After your first month, you can opt for weekly storage instead if you are only going to be in for part of your final month.
What if my storage needs change over time?
You can change size, add or take away modules or containers at any time (subject to availability).
Is mobile storage more expensive than traditional storage?
Storage rates are approximately equivalent when comparing similar sizes in our self storage container or mobile storage module options. Typically both of our options are cheaper than big name, traditional storage sheds, particularly in the inner suburbs. We are typically much cheaper than other providers when you look at their drive up access options.
Mobile storage has the added savings associated with halving the work required to move in and out of storage (due to no double handling). When you look at the overall picture of moving and storing, mobile storage (if it is a suitable solution for your needs) will typically work out much better value for money.
Do I need space at my property for mobile storage? / I don’t have space at my property for a container or storage unit, can I still use mobile storage?
As we do not drop off and leave our storage modules, no you do not need space on your driveway or garage for this. We will need space to park our truck whilst the module is loaded – which you would need when moving in and out anyway.
What can’t I store?
These items are prohibited in storage:
Flammables, Gas Bottles, Chemicals, Tobacco, Paint, Tyres in bulk, Liquids, Perishables.
Are my items insured while in storage?
Elite Container Storage recommends that you consider some form of insurance whilst in storage as otherwise goods are stored at your own risk. We recommend you check with your home and contents insurance provider or contact our office for information on retail providers you can source insurance from.
A customer can either opt in to StoreProtect (subject to being within the target market), take out insurance or rely on standard contractual liability.
Please refer to our StoreProtect page for more information [LINK]
I get paid weekly can I change my billing frequency?
After your first month in storage we can change your billing cycle to weekly, and line up with your preferred day of the week too.
Are there any extra hidden fees?
There are no sign up or admin or move out fees other providers charge. Your units will need to be locked (buy one of our locks or provide your own), and there is a refundable security deposit with our self storage containers. Other than that it is only storage rent and optional StoreProtect coverage.
If you opt for mobile storage, moving cost are separate and will be quoted in advance depending on your requirements.
Do you sell packing materials?
Our sister company, Move in Boxes, supplies and can arrange delivery of all you packing material needs.
I don’t have time, can you pack my boxes for me?
Yes we can arrange a repackaging service, if needed, completed by our highly experienced team.
Do you rent out trucks or provide trailers for moving into storage?
Our mobile storage options makes it even easier for you in that we can load the items directly into the storage space at your premises, removing the needs for a removalist or a truck/trailer hire.
I only need storage for a week while my house is painted, do I have to pay for a month?
