Storage Stafford
SmartWay Storage provides mobile storage to Stafford (4053). We bring storage to your door, you load once at your property (or usually, we load it all up for you) and we take care of everything from that point. Our Coopers Plains facility is around 25-30 minutes away – and like Chermside and the broader northside, the distance to our depot is less relevant than it first appears once you understand how our system works.
If you’re searching for Storage Stafford, the suburb’s housing mix shapes what storage here typically looks like: a blend of Queenslanders, post-war homes, townhouses and low-rise apartment complexes producing a range of job sizes where the load-once advantage is consistent and clear over double handling all your items into a facility which you then rarely access.

Always an absolute pleasure working with Smartways! Booking to actual drop off was seamless - Alex and Tom dropped 30m2 off in an hour! Nothing was too big or hard work for them! Everything is just the same as it was when it was packed up 2-3 years ago! Would 100% recommend them again and again!Posted on Google![]()

SmartWay Storage are absolutely fantastic. From the first communication with Adam, to a number of further interactions with him and other staff at SmartWay, nothing is too hard to organise. They are concise with all their information but also take the time to fully inform you on how it will all happen and give you all the information you may need. But importantly, the care in the way they approach a move is evident. The truck turned up on time at our pick up address in South Brisbane after providing advance notice as to exactly when they would get there. The guys were courteous, fast and efficient, but they also were extremely careful with all our belongings. I really cannot sing their praises highly enough. They are very competitive on price, but also highly professional and the best in the business. Book their service and you will be thoroughly satisfied with their work.Posted on Google![]()

Stafford Storage
Why Mobile Storage Makes Sense for Stafford Residents
Stafford sits in Brisbane’s inner-north – a well-established suburb undergoing steady renewal, with an interesting housing mix that reflects its gradual transition from an older post-war residential area to a more diverse community. It’s a suburb where the storage jobs we do span a large range of property types and sizes, and where the core argument for mobile storage – you save time, effort and money overall compared to a traditional provider – holds true across all of them.
What Stafford’s housing mix means in practice:
- Queenslanders: Stafford’s older character homes include a good proportion of elevated Queenslanders – external stair access, longer carries to street level, and understorey storage that has accumulated over time. Our load-once system means you navigate that access once rather than repeat it through a storage facility.
- Post-war homes: The established post-war brick and timber homes across Stafford’s residential streets produce straightforward to medium-sized jobs with generally good truck access. These are some of the more predictable jobs we do in the inner-north.
- Townhouses: Stafford has seen solid townhouse development alongside its older housing stock. Shared driveway access and body corporate considerations are standard – factored in at booking rather than managed on the day.
- Low-rise apartment complexes: The low-rise units across Stafford’s main corridors are typically older style with stair access but we have also werviced new apartments with lift access. Small to medium moves from these buildings are a regular job type – and the load-once advantage is just as relevant at smaller volumes.
- Active renewal corridor: Stafford is a suburb in transition – older homes being renovated, extended or replaced, and a steady flow of new residents arriving as the suburb’s value proposition becomes better understood. That transition generates consistent renovation and pre-sale storage demand.
- Recent local experience: We’ve recently worked with customers on Longland Street, Castling Street, Sayers Street, Buddina Street, Barbarra Street, Armfield Street and more
Note from Tom, Founder at SmartWay Storage
“Stafford is another northside suburb where I want to address the distance question directly. Yes, our facility is in Coopers Plains, around 25-30 minutes south of Stafford. But here’s what we’ve learned after years in this business talking to thousands of storage customers: most residential clients storing between homes, during a renovation, or while overseas or interstate don’t need to access their storage regularly, if at all. They need their belongings safe, handled carefully once, and returned in good condition when they’re ready. That’s it. We offer free access with 2 business days notice – no problem. But the reality is most of our residential customers use it rarely or not at all until the delivery. When you factor that in, the comparison changes completely. You’re not choosing between a facility 5 minutes away and one 30 minutes away. You’re choosing between a service where you handle your belongings once – at your own home, with professional help if you want it – and one where you need a truck, double-handle everything, and make repeated trips. For Stafford residents storing household items between moves or during a renovation, our service saves time and money overall. That’s not a sales pitch – it’s what the numbers show when you add it all up.”
How Our Storage Service Works in Stafford
- Choose your service: We bring a secure storage module to your Stafford property, or you opt for a drive-up self-storage container at our Coopers Plains facility.
- Loading your way: Our in-house team can handle the heavy lifting – stairs and all – or you can load yourself at a DIY price.
- Secure transport: Your locked module is transported to our secure Brisbane facility – sealed from the moment we leave your driveway.
- Access when you need it: Access your items free of charge with 2 business days notice – available 6 days a week. In practice most residential customers access rarely or not at all until delivery. But it’s there if and when you need it.
- Return when you’re ready: We deliver your sealed, untouched module back to your next address when the time comes.
Have your own transport arranged for your belongings? Our warehouse move in option will suit you instead.
Mobile Storage vs Traditional Self-Storage in Stafford

Total time and cost | No truck hire, no double handling, no repeated trips – generally better value overall | Facility may be nearby but far more time consuming overall |
Pricing | Consistent monthly rate – no promotional rates that increase over time | Pricing typically ramps up aggressively after 6-9 months |
Common Storage Uses in Stafford
- Between homes: The most common residential storage use case in Stafford – storing household contents while between a sale and a purchase, or during a rental gap. You handle your belongings once at your property. We bring them back when the new home is ready.
- Renovation storage: Stafford’s active renewal corridor generates consistent renovation storage demand. Clearing furniture and contents during kitchen, bathroom or extension works – with flexible monthly terms that don’t lock you in if the build runs long.
- Pre-sale preparation: A well-presented Stafford property benefits from decluttering ahead of sale. Removing excess furniture to let the home breathe is a practical and consistently effective use of short-term storage.
- Interstate and overseas relocations: For Stafford residents relocating interstate or overseas, mobile storage is a particularly strong fit. Load once, store securely, deliver when you’re back. No repeated visits to a storage facility from the other side of the country – breathable timber modules ideal for keeping your items intact long term.
- Queenslander clearouts and renovations: Stafford’s elevated character homes frequently have understoreys and garages packed with years of accumulated storage. Clearing that space before a renovation is a regular job type – and often the first step before the renovation conversation can even begin.
- Townhouse and unit moves: For residents in Stafford’s townhouses and low-rise units, our load-once system removes the repetition of traditional storage – particularly relevant where stair access is involved.
- Switching from a larger provider: If you’re paying above-market rates at a local facility (after repeated rent hikes), it’s worth a call. We can often collect directly from your current provider – and our pricing doesn’t use a promotional rate model that ramps up once you’re settled in.

FAQs - Storage in Stafford
Does the distance matter for Stafford customers?
For most residential customers, much less than you’d think. The key question isn’t how far our depot is – it’s how often you’ll actually need to access your storage. For household items stored between moves, during a renovation, or while overseas, most people access rarely or not at all until delivery. When you factor that in alongside no truck hire and no double handling, our total cost and time is generally far better than a local facility. If you do need access, it’s free with 2 business days notice – 6 days a week.
Do you offer access to stored items?
Yes – absolutely, and it’s free of charge with 2 business days notice. We set up your module in our drive-up access area so you can get to your belongings easily, you don’t need to navigate lifts or corridors. We just ask for the notice so we can have it ready for you. What we’ve found after years in this business is that most residential customers use this rarely or not at all – but it’s certainly available whenever you need it.
Can you handle Queenslander homes in Stafford?
Yes. Elevated Queenslanders with external stair access and longer carries to street level are one of our most common job types across the inner-north. Let us know your access situation at booking and we’ll factor in the right team and time allocation for the day.
Can you service low-rise apartment buildings with stair access?
Yes. Stair access in older unit buildings is a regular job type in Stafford. Let us know the floor level and access details at booking and we’ll plan accordingly. The key advantage is that you manage that access once rather than twice.
Is mobile storage or container storage the better option for Stafford?
For most Stafford residents, mobile storage is the stronger choice. If you genuinely need 24/7 drive-up access on a regular basis – for a business, trade, or selling items out of storage – our containers at Coopers Plains are available. But for the majority of residential customers, mobile storage saves time and money overall.
Can you collect from my current storage provider if I want to switch?
Yes – we can often arrange to collect directly from your current facility, removing the logistics barrier to switching. Get in touch and we’ll work out the most practical approach.
How much notice do I need to book?
1-2 weeks is recommended. For Queenslander homes or properties with specific access requirements, early notice helps us allocate the right team for the day.
